October 5, 2012 – Meadowlark Lemon addresses the rising concerns of racial prejudice and economic turmoil attempting to regain a foothold in this generation with his new book Trust Your Next SHOT: A Guide to a Life of Joy. His story reminds us that we are capable of seeing beyond the color of our skin or our financial status, to the potential of our human spirit, and the endurance of our determination.

Trust Your Next ShotMeadowlark has been going around the country promoting his new book.  He’s been on the Late Show with David Letterman, “Fox and Friends” and “Hannity” on Fox News Network as well as many other national and international shows.  The book has also been featured in Sports Illustrated and in newspapers around the World, including China, India, Africa, etc.  Meadowlark even was privileged to do a book signing @ the Pentagon in March 2011 before he went to visit the wounded warriors @ Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC.

On the road, while performing before kings, queens, presidents and popes he learned that JOY is not the absence of adversity. Meadowlark realized JOY is the victorious way through adversity.

Since his days as the leader of the Globetrotters, Meadowlark has not only continued touring with his own comedic basketball teams including the Bucketeers, the Shooting Stars, and currently Meadowlark Lemon’s Harlem All Stars™, he has taken every opportunity to share the message of JOY through his outreach programs.

In his new book, published by Ascend Books (www.ascendbooks.com), Meadowlark illustrates the determination it took to overcome poverty, racial prejudice, and many other roadblocks that would have sidelined most any other person. Meadowlark, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003, delivers loving reminiscences of his youth, hilarious stories about his days with the Globetrotters, and wise instructions for living a JOY-filled life.

Meadowlark Lemon, the world famous superstar of the Harlem Globetrotters for more than 25 seasons, played in 16,000 career games, spanning more than 94 countries. He is a three-time inductee to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame: as the John Bunn Award winner, as a member of the Globetrotters when the team was honored, and as an individual contributor.

After his time with the Globetrotters, he formed his own comedic basketball teams —
Meadowlark Lemon’s Bucketeers, the Shooting Stars, and, today, Meadowlark Lemon’s Harlem All Stars.

He is in the International Clown Hall of Fame, the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, received the 2001 Victor Sports Award, recorded two music albums, and has won four Angel awards for his ministry TV show. He has starred in many movie and TV roles, including the movie, The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh, and the weekly television series, Hello, Larry!

For more than 25 years he has also served as a motivational speaker and as a messenger of JOY. He lives with his wife, Dr. Cynthia Lemon, and two of their 10 children, Crystal Joy and Caleb Lark Lemon, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
